IEMT
Integral Eye Movement Therapy
IEMT stands for Integral Eye Movement Therapy. In this therapy, we make the eyes move to make new connections in the brain. IEMT works effectively if you experience recurrent, limiting emotions or, for example, if you suffer from negative self-image, lethargy, stress, depression, PTSD, or mental fatigue.
IEMT helps you break free from your (unconscious) sabotaging thoughts, failure experiences and disappointments, so you can move on without negative ballast. You experience positive feelings, feel lighter and gain more confidence in yourself and your own abilities. Thus, IEMT supports you to better cope with certain situations or persons. It can also give you an encouraging boost to take the steps in your life that you would like.
Processing trauma and reducing anxiety or stuck emotions
During intense experiences, the brain links certain emotions to the event. If you face a similar experience later in life, those unpleasant feelings from back then resurface. So your brain causes you to keep feeling the old, unpleasant feeling of that earlier experience.
Through IEMT therapy, we create new neural networks in the brain and the brain to see more broadly. This creates more distance to the memory and your memory becomes more vague. We take the sharp edges off, removing the negative emotions, such as fear, shame or anger, that you linked to the experience.

IEMT helps you break free from your (unconscious) sabotaging thoughts
An IEMT treatment can be booked as one or more separate consultations. In practice, I use it mainly when I detect deep-seated emotions or beliefs or a traumatic experience during a consultation or body scan.
How does the IEMT treatment session work?
How we start
We start the consultation with a short intake to flesh out the request for help. You sit in a comfortable chair and follow my fingers with your eyes. Working with simple eye movements has been scientifically proven to be effective as therapy. The patterns made by the eyes suppress the brain area that stores memories.
Working with eye movements
IEMT is reminiscent of the better-known treatment method Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), but works slightly differently. While EMDR is often used to treat a specific trauma, IEMT has a broader application. Moreover, with IEMT you do not have to recount your experience or relive the unpleasant experience.
During the treatment
I do ask you about the memory, where you feel this in your body, but you do not have to answer. A nod is enough to confirm. In between the questions, I let you make short, simple eye movements according to a certain pattern. We then test the extent to which your limiting emotions have diminished or disappeared. If necessary, we repeat the procedure.
Session duration & cost
On average, the IEMT session lasts 1.5 hours. How many sessions are needed depends on your request for help. Depending on the intensity of your situation, 1 session may already produce the desired result. In more complex situations, more sessions are needed. The cost of each 1.5-hour session is 150 euros.
